- Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tributes to freedom fighter Rani Velu Nachiyar on her birth aniversary on 3rd January.
- She was the first queen to fight against the colonial power.
- 18th century queen from Sivagangai district in Tamil Nadu.
- She is known as 'Veeramngai'.
- She was proficient in languages English,Urdu and French.
- She was the princess of 'Ramanthapuram'.
- She is only child of chelamuthu vijaya raghunathasethupathi and sakandhimuthathal of the Ramnad Kingdom.
- Her husband Muthu Vaduganatha Periyavudaya Thevar was killed in a battle with EIC soldiers.
- She was trained many methods martial arts like valari,slambam,Horse Riding,Archery.
- Avenging her husband's death due to 'British' she formed an army with the alliance of 'Gopala Nayalka' and 'Hyder Ali' and succesful fought the british in 1780.
- She divised the first 'Sucide Bomber'.
